Biographie : Louis Armstrong
Louis Armstrong was born in a poor section of New Orleans on 4 August, 1901.
He spent his first years in life living with his grand mother Joseline Armstrong.
When Louis was eleven years old, he fired a pistol in the street to celebrate New Years Eve.
As a result, he wad arrested by nearby policeman and was confined in the Colored Waif’s Home
for boys. After his release from the Waif’s Home, Louis started to sell newspapers
To help feed himself, his mother, and his sister.
In 1919, Louis was hired to perform on river boats travelling the Mississippi. At the age of 22,
He made his first recording. In 1930, he performed in different places like: Chicago, Baltimore,
Detroit, Pittsburgh and Washington DC .In 1932, Louis made a tour around Great Britain in 3 months.
In 1954, he published his autobiography “My life in New Orleans”. In 1968, he released his song
“What a Wonderful World!” , which became very famous especially in Great Britain.
Louis Armstrong passed away on 6 July 1971 while sleeping in his home.
