Well they're both good platforms to buy and sell art. The difference is that listing items publicly on etsy requires a monthly fee. You can also list on etsy for free but it's only privately and for special items made specifically for a customer. By contrast, fineartamerica.com allows artists to list items for free (no fees required).
So maybe a lot of people buy from etsy but fineartamerica.com is a good opportunity not to miss out especially for new artists who want to start selling quickly and freely.
